Fruity Tooty Baby hats

I crocheted my first fruity hat out of an old craft book years ago. I lost that book and haven't picked up a crochet hook in years. It's hard to do any kind of needle work when you have curious little hands always inspecting your progress and pulling on yarns. I don't know how many times I picked up my knitting bag only to find tangled wool, bent needles and/or unravelled knitting. So I gave it up for a few years.
Breanna started me crocheting again when she asked me to show her how to do it. And then a coworker had a baby and I thought of my strawberry hats. I searched high and low on the internet for a pattern with no success so I made my own. They're really quite simple. I crochet a basic beanie style hat and then add leaves.
I have trunks full of wool. It was almost as big an obsession as scrapbooking.
I picked a red Pingouin cotton for this hat.


Then I tried a mohair.


It knit up into a bigger hat, maybe for a toddler.


I had some pretty blue cotton so I thought of trying a blueberry for a little boy.


I like it plain, but it doesn't look particularly fruity so I searched for a leaf pattern. Again I came up empty so again I made my own.


I can't decide if the leaves look like leaves or propeller blades. Either way it's a very cute look for a boy beanie.
