Oh baby

Isn't this little fawn sweet. Rick was on the river a couple of days ago and while he waited for clients he took a stroll through the woods. He heard the crashing of a deer bounding away and a few seconds later he came across this little fawn. Curled up on the ground, trying to be invisible. Every couple minutes it would have to breath, but other than that Rick said it didn't move a muscle. He took a couple photos and then left it to wait for it's mothers return.
He always sees the neatest things when the rest of us aren't there.

Rick is still enjoying hospital food, humbling attire and all the indignities that come along with being poked and prodded by strangers.
This morning he thought they’d forgotten to give him breakfast when he lifted the lid on an empty plate. Then the muffin, which was sticking to the lid, fell and landed with a thunk on his tray. And it was a ‘thunk’. That muffin looked like it was more than a ‘day old’.
I hope he enjoyed the Tim Horton’s coffee I bought him because I think that was all the breakfast he got.
Still no sign of a discharge and it’s now Monday. The nurses are insisting he pee through a sieve so they can catch any stones he might pass. It’s a messy job! He tried to tell the nurse that he thought he may have passed the stone on the ambulance ride. The nurse told him, “Honey, if you’d passed a stone you wouldn’t think, you’d know.” Poor Rick. It sounds like there is more pain to come in the near future.
Breanna’s been busy making him popsicle stick and foam sticker frames with her photo in them all, for his bedside table. I'll have to take pictures of them later (when I find the recharger for my camera).
I made him a card with the scraps from my Basic Grey Wisteria layouts and my favourite heart border punch.

Scraptime

Breanna and I have a HUGE mess happening in the dining room. We pulled out all the dye inks and paints and got really messy. Here's one of the layouts I've finished. I started with Gold and Frost Glimmer Mist and a Maya Roads chipboard scroll as a mask ~ when I was done I used the now gold coloured scroll on the layout too. Then I pulled out an old toothbrush and green Making Memories paint and splattered it across the page.
My Sunshine girl...
Papers, brads, chipboard alpha and stickers are all Basic Grey Wisteria.
We took it in to the Scrapbook Store this afternoon and discovered it was end of year inventory counting time. I was asked to help out tomorrow. Not what I had planned for my free Sunday without the guys to take care of but, oh well, more free scrapbooking stuff.
I finished another quick layout for www.scrapcentral.ca's Scrappin' to the Oldies competition. A couple more of Tan's photos from 2007. I hope she likes it.
Breanna and I picked out the triangular lace Tim Holtz mask this afternoon and the pink Glimmer Mist too.

It's summer hols...

...for the kids at least. Duncan is happy 'cause he gets to keep his Xbox for the summer ~ he managed to raise his marks just a tad. Only 1 C, some C+'s and B's. And an A in PE.
Daniel got straight B's. So he's back on the honour roll. Good for him.
Breanna did awesome as always. She had a wonderful teacher this year. She's a little concerned about next year because she was told the French Immersion Grade 6 teacher is 'mean', but Breanna is a good student and gets along with everyone so I'm sure she has nothing to worry about.
Rick's off for a couple weeks as well.
Just me still has to rise and shine every morning and head off in to work.

Rick is taking the boys out camping on Williston Lake tomorrow, through till Monday. I hope the weather holds up for them. We are finally getting the rain our gardens so desperately need. The weekend looks like it might dry up, but will stay cool.
Breanna and I are planning on scrapbooking all weekend. I just picked up 117 photos from the developers. Breanna has had the camera at school for the last couple weeks and has been snapping away during all their fun activities like the karaoke contest she and Takisha organized, bowling, the water park and the Peace Island Park picnic yesterday.
I did a little scrapping last night. Finished another layout for Tan's album. The photos are from 2007 (I had tucked them safely away in my boot cubbyhole so they wouldn't get mushed in our suitcases when we were visiting that summer and then I forgot about them. I was cleaning my car a couple months ago and rediscovered this little hidey hole. The scrapping glue was toast ~ I guess it doesn't do well when frozen and thawed over a couple of winters. I was very glad to find my Kai scissors. I wondered where they had gone! And I found the packet of photos, unharmed by repeated freezing and thawing.)The papers, stickers, chipboard alpha and brads are Basic Grey 'Wisteria'.

On the river

I love seeing my kids getting along and having fun together. Like all siblings they have their "She's looking at me!" and "He's not allowed in my room!" moments. But they enjoy each others company at times too. Like this day on the river. This was just last weekend on the Peace River above Lynx Creek.

The papers, chipboard alpha and stickers are Basic Grey 'Wisteria'. I masked the word love with gold Glimmer Mist.

Scrapping with the Oldies.

Just got this layout done in time for Sunday's deadline. I used 7Gypsies pp, Maya Rd chipboard, Flowers (even though it's a boy page) and a word scramble item. The word scramble this week was 'decorative pin'.

That cute little face in the photo belongs to my nephew.

Just me.

I hate photos of me. I would much rather be behind the camera than in front of it. Even my friends comment on how my face gets weird when I notice a camera pointed in my direction. It's a good thing we are digital or I'd never find a photo of me that was 'okay' :) Rick must have snapped a couple of dozen on this day, for me to find 3 that I could comfortably use on a layout that is going to be hung in a public place. And still I wouldn't call that a smile on my face; more like a grimace. LOL. This layout is for my LSS, Unforgettable Memories.
Papers, stickers, flowers, buttons and brads are all Bo Bunny. I sprayed 'Frost' glimmer mist over a couple of HS butterfly masks along the top of my pages. Do you like how I made the butterfly heads and antennaes using brads with their sticks poking out? And I cut up some jewelled Prima swirls to make the butterly trails.

Pigtails

This page didn't turn out quite how I'd envisioned it. But I think I like it.

Summer of '69

Here's an old photo. Dad is holding a land crab while Kim and I look on. BIG pinchers.

Wade is 1

We're doing a Scrappin' to the Oldies challenge over at ScrapCentral.ca where we dig deep into our stash and find our oldest products and use them. This is my layout for this weeks challenge.
My nephew enjoying his first birthday cake.
That brown paper has been in my hoard since I started scrapping years ago. I don't even know what company made it, but it came in 8 1/2 x 11 only. Maybe Mustard Moon?

I'm working on more layouts for ScrapCentral.ca's Summer Fun Crop so I'll be posting more later.

Cropping at ScrapCentral.ca

We're having a "Summer Fun" crop this weekend and Rick's working nights so I'm planning on getting a few projects done. I made up a few sketch challenges for the ladies. Here's one of my sketches... I used Microsoft Word to make my sketch and for some reason my pretty Butterfly/Flower clipart went black when I changed it to a .jpg; I'm not sure why :(

Anyway, here's my layout using Cosmo Girl...
It will be hanging at Unforgettable Memories by next week.

Summer

I love how this layout turned out. Bright and fun, just like a day at the park. I did this one for my LSS ~ Unforgettable Memories.

Friends

I've done two 'friend' layouts lately. Wanda hit the big four oh. (She's almost as old as me. LOL) We celebrated at a local restaurant and took lots of photos. Wanda was great. She is so unselfconcious and ready to have fun. You couldn't have forced me to put on that boa and tiara. But I love watching other people be silly.

I did a 'how-to' on using masks and Maya Mist over at the Unforgettable Memories blog.

This second layout is of Melody that same evening. She was her usual beautiful self. One of my college instructors had us do an exercise where we wrote down several descriptive words about the person sitting next to us. I decided to do that for this layout instead of journaling.(the spelling mistake is fixed)
