3 kids ROAR

My scarey little Halloween monsters.  The photos are from 1999.

This layout is for the Scrapfriends challenge. It's a colour challenge ~ yellow and shades of black/grey. Check out their blog to see what their DT has done with the challenge.

Drippy paint and ink along with netting and Halloween stickers embellish my layout.

Blue Halloween

I played along at White with 1. Novembers challenge is blueberry.

Blue is not a typical Halloween colour, but I love how this page turned out.

Halloween sketch challenge

My kids weren't really into Halloween this year so I found some older photos.  My 18 yr-old when he was in kindergarten.  What a cutie he is.

The patterned papers are Carta Bella.  The stickers are Echo Park. I also used some paints, Glimmer mist, cheesecloth and Prima flowers (black, of course).

The layout is for sketchabilities challenge this month.

Kraft it Up challenge

The challenge on the Kraft It Up challenge blog is navy, orange, cream and kraft this month.

My layout is pretty photo heavy.  And for all the photos that didn't fit in my design are tucked into the Smash pocket on the right page.  I found the perfect washi tape design.  The map tape and road tape came in the same package.

I used my ray stencil again.  The shimmer makes the blue look lighter than it is in real life.

The Orange paper and banner pieces came from a Halloween paper pack.

White with 1 challenge

Another October challenge completed. ~ White with watermelon.
I'm on a roll with challenges this month. And having fun with the mists and ink sprays.  I picked up the ray mask at Unforgettable Memories and have been eager to use it.  I added paper strips, washi tape, netting and stamping to my rays.

So check out the White with 1 blog.  See what their designers have done with the challenge and play along.

Scrap the Boys challenge

The challenge is Blue and Green at Scrap the Boys this month.

Here's my layout. It's Daniel getting a Papa haircut when he was 3 years old.  A long time ago.

To see some closeups check out the Unforgettable Memories blog.

Once Upon a Sketch challenge

I managed to stretch the sketch at Once Upon a Sketch into a two pager to accommodate these pictures of my MILs garden.  The background started off as a blank slate. Two pieces of white cardstock.  I spritzed with purple mist and then a little red and then splashed some green ink across the layout.  The edges are rubbed with blue and purple ink and stamped with a Kaiser texture stamp.

Once I was happy with my background I layered scraps of patterned paper and lace using the sketch.

Loved this sketch! And loved checking out the Once Upon a Sketch blog to see what everyone else is doing with it.

Scrap the Girls challenge

I completed an October challenge.  For Scrap the Girls.

A puzzle challenge and you must use these pieces:

 Hexagon
- check
Squiggle - check
Circle - check
Rectangle - check
Strips - check
 My friends and I in Lake Louise.

I had fun with the background.  I started with lime green cardstock and started misting and masking and stamping. Many layers later I ended up with the perfect background for my photos.

The Color Room challenge

I used a butterfly die cut as a mask and white acrylic paint. I punched some pink vellum butterflies and decorated with some bling.  I stamped a script stamp with pink ink on the left side of each butterfly.  I really love how my butterflies turned out.

I loved the colours in this challenge.  So fresh and summery!

My Kraft It Up challenge layout

I played along with Kraft It Up this month.  I always check out their blog and intend to get a layout done.  This month I actually did!

The May challenge is create a vintage inspired layout on Kraft.

  • I had a black and white photo of my Dad.
  • I started with the packaging from Prima's alpha stickers.  The colours and design feel vintagy to me with the stitching around the outside and the toned down colours. I tore it in half and used it as a base for my photo matting.

  • And I found some 'almost' vintage scrapbook product.  Remember when those plastic slides were so popular?  They are very easy to cut with scissors so I used one on the edge of my page.  I slid another under the photo on the right hand edge.

April Layouts

Where does the time go?  Three layoutsis all I managed in the month of April. I have groups of photos to scrap, some new, some old, some really old! All sitting on my desk in piles waiting to be put on pages.

This weekend is national scrapbooking day.  Maybe I'll get some time to work on my piles of photos.

I used a Christmas overlay on this page.  The mattes, photo, journal spot and some of the flatter embellishments are under the overlay.  The cluster of flowers, butterflies and chipboard are on top of the overlay.

A double pager. Yay! The black snowflakes are Maya Roads.  I love them and will be using them on future layouts.  There are lots in a package.

So that's it for April.  Maybe I'll get more time in May now that I'm settling into my new job and am not so swamped.

A few layouts

This first layout is for the 123 Challenge blog. The challenge was to
  1. Black (Washi Tape, Title and bling along the bottom of my page)
  2. the word 'Year'  (my journaling is "Breanna's love of reading began before she was a year old. Grandma always had time to read" and I also have the year jotted down at the end of my title)
  3. Twine circles (mine is framing Grandma and Breanna)

I made a clothes line with the chipboard dresses and buttons from Cosmo Cricket's chipboard sheet.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Duncan teaching Breanna to walk.  She was such a novelty to him at that age. Unfortunately it didn't last long.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

And for a double pager. I've always wanted to try this alpha sticker background and finally got around to doing it.

Follow Your Heart ~ My Mind's Eye pages

 I think this My Mind's Eye line is one of my favs!  The collage down the right side is printed right on the paper.  I stamped the chandelier myself.  The chipboard banner is cut in two and placed over the chandelier.  The woodcuts (butterfly and camera) are by Kaiser.

This second page is using the same line of papers and chipboard embellishments.  My cutie Breanna just under a year old.  She is so pretty!

Little birch bed for Duncan

I used the same Fancy Pants Designs line as I used on my last couple of layouts. Did a little spraying and misting on the background then started glueing down strips and scraps of patterned paper.

Another old photo from 1999.

Fancy Pants 'the good life' ~ Ready Set Go

I love the patterns in this line of Fancy Pants'. The puffy stickers are by Imaginisce and were just lying on my desk waiting to be used.

My kids had so much fun in this little jeep when they were toddlers.  Great memories.

My little driver

I found some old photos that I wanted to scrap.  My Daniel could never really figure out how to steer his little jeep.  He drove into his bike while Breanna was a passenger and the look on her face is priceless.

Happy New Year

Love the bright cheerful colours in this Cosmo Cricet line.  The chipboard sheet has loads of great images.  I love the girl.  She has red hair just like Breanna.
